Troubling Times

I’m facing the facts – I’m in trouble.

Fuckup #1
I have 40+ pages to complete by the 7th of Feb so we can complete the next issue before CNY.

That means I’ll have to consistantly churn out about 6 to 7 pages a day – every day. That includes Saturday and Sunday. I’m pretty fucked.

Fuckup #2
Everything about me and GF seems pretty fucked up in my head now. We don’t have any problems between us – apart from the fact that I’m here in KL while she’s in SG.

Sure, people say it’s so near compared to their KL->AUS relationships or their KL->US relationships or whatever, but fuck you. As long as she’s not in KL, its far. Period. Mother fuckers.

And yes, the fact that she’s not around is getting to my head. I can’t talk to her the way I used to, and the phone bills are killing me. I can’t see her or hold her hand or have dinner with her. The 2 – 3 days we meet, once a month feels like shit compared to what we had.

It just seems so empty – which is probably why I never approved of long distance relationships.

The worst part is when there’s no ultimatum between us – no definate time frame. It’s not like she’s going to study for her degree and will definately be back in 3 or 4 years. She’s going to work till she “has saved enough money”. How long will that be? 1 year? 2 years? 10 years?

So what if I’m selfish. I think I’m entitled to my own opinion on this matter and I’m entitled to do what I think is best for me. It might not be best for her, but she has already chosen what she thinks will be best for her. Tough then.

Fuckup #3
My recent Phuket trip was quite a bore. I got a tiny tan, and since I fucking hate to see my skin dark, I’m pretty unhappy about it. Fucking sunblock not doing it’s fucking job. Mother fucker!!!

I’m also pretty annoyed at the way the trip transpired. A trip to Phuket should be about fun and relaxation. It ended up being a whining session, and thus ended up as quite a drag.

Quite honestly, I couldn’t wait to get back home. Honest.

Fuckup #4
While my magazine is still new, it’s already been the brunt of some unpleasent comments. I think I can finally understand how Adlin and the gang felt when their first issue of their magazine came under scrutiny.

Even though I wasn’t involved in this issue, I still feel uneasy about it – only because I am now associated, and might one day take over this title.

To the critics – thanks for your critical eye. Thanks for your ruthless comments. For the record, the piece was done by one of our free lancers, but then again, since it’s plagiarism, it isn’t worth shit.

Yes. You are rite to suan us for running a blatantly coppied article, but unlike Bolas who told me about it in person, you lacked class and tact by bringing it up to the public.

But then again, I guess you probably did so you could further boost the repo of your own publication huh? All’s fair in war, right? :)

Sien.

Working in an empty office is all fine and dandy, but why do people choose to snake off when I got not much work to do. Why couldn’t you just do it during crunch period. Mother fuckers. See la… damn waste now.

Oh well.

I’ll be going to Phuket with a really mixed bunch of characters tomorrow. I’m not sure how it’s going to work out, but at least I have some kaki to chill out with. PLANELESS PILOT Captain Chui know’s a nice young Thai boy, so at least we’ll have a guide, but I’m not too sure about the rest of the gang.

The ladies will probably go shopping for souvineers and spend time on the beach, maybe go for a drink or two before they call it a day. So that gives me and Captain Chui the honour of corrupting Mr. Zen. Muahahehe. Good things are coming my friend.

GF got a job in Singapore, so she won’t be around for quite a while. Don’t know how things will work out, but as always (being the fuckingly positive guy I am), I hope for the best. No immediate plans on how we’ll work things out, so I guess I’ll just go with the flow.

I read that Razman is back, so I’m also looking forward to meeting up with him. Fuck man, it’s time for more more more futsal. Let’s see if I can shape up by CNY.

I had this long emo post all line up, but since today has been quite a good day, I’ll just save it for when I get back. I’m also looking forward to reading my next interview @ IT Journo Asia. A while back, Mr. 8bola had some nitty gritty issues with them, so I hope the same doesn’t plague my interview….

2-month-old comeback kid leaves magazine, again!

Chan Wern Shen bids farewell to the team of Stuff Magazine Malaysia last Friday, after returning to the publication two months ago.

Luke Elliot, Chatcha Corp’s head of publishing, described Chan’s very short stay as a “funny” episode for the team but said it would have little impact on the company.

“It’s not tragic for us in Malaysia; we have 70 people, so losing one is no real big deal,” said Elliot.

“I mean he was a writer, he’s important to us, we like him a lot obviously, but one out of 70 doesn’t make much difference really.”

Though the company is 70-men strong in the Malaysia, Chan was part of the team of two responsible for Stuff Magazine Malaysia.

The other member, Adam Smith, editor for Stuff Magazine Malaysia, is expected to be in for a busy period for the next few months as Elliot searches for a new writer.

“There are a couple of people, but I think at the moment I think we are looking to make sure that we get the right person,” said Elliot.

“Smith just have to work a little bit harder for a month until we find the right person!”

Smith chose not to comment on Chan’s departure.

Chan left Stuff Malaysia for the first time in September 2006; he rejoined the publication towards the end of November in the same year but left two months later.

I guess at the end of the day, I thought that writing for Stuff is probably what I want to be doing for the next few years,” said Chan in an interview after rejoining Catcha.

Guess years turned to just days for this writer.

Luke Elliot can be contacted at luke@catchacorp.com and Adam Smith can be contacted at adam@catchacorp.com.

For the record, I said “I guess at the end of the day, writting is probably what I want to do for the next couple of years“, when asked why I left sales and rejoined editorial – but hey, where’s the drama in that. :)

Yooooo`

January 25, 2007 at 3:59 pm (Craps)

Hi kawan kawan.

I know it’s been quite a fucking while since I’ve updated, but when you’re busting your arse to chase deadlines, blogging becomes less and less of a priority – es-fucking-specially if your day job is being a writer.

UGH.

But hey, there’s no better way to start a post than by starting it with a humungous cliche so here it is: A NEW YEAR, A NEW BEGINNING. HAHAHA!!

Yes my dear friends. This year is a year of change for me – again. Fuck. It seems like every year is a year of change, but hey, if you dont like it then FUCK YOU. ^_^

First off – I quit my job AGAIN. Yeah. Bite me. I quit Catcha in October. I quit BSA in December. I rejoined Catcha and quit again this month! Hahaha! Sure no employee of the month for me any time soon, but fuck that. Imagine if I won employee of the month, and received my picture stuck on the certificate. I can give it to my mama and she will frame it up and hang it in the study room, next to my graduation picture. HAHAHA! Make the whole fucking room look like Mc Donalds! HAHAHHAHAHAHHA GG!!

Anyways, I’ve changed jobs again. I ditched Stuff magazine for a new title called Digital Lifestyle. I got a double promotion during these 3 months and 2 pay hikes. As Borat would  say, “Very nice, how much?”. Well FUCK YOU. It’s a secret. But it’s safe to say that I’ll start to have enough income to start repaying those of you whom I owe money. Nice ah?

Well, my new office is in Dataran Prima, so if you’re in the area, CALL ME OUT AND BUY ME LUNCH LA YOU FUCKERS. Enough of SS2, come to fucking Aman Suria la. It’s just across the street. We can eat BAO BAO PAN NOODLES or the Godly and superbly powderful PAPA CHOPS AND MAMA GRILLS. Nice wei you pukimaks.

I might be moving out from my place to my companie’s “hostel” located in Tropicana, but nothing’s concrete yet. Oh and my GF has found a job in Singapore, so if anyone wants to apply for the almighty priviledge of being the part time girlfriend of the great and wonderful (but innocent and good boy) Wern Shen, then drop me a line.

I wish to write more but I’m in a rush to snake out of the office and meet up with the PANTIES PRINCE, Charles and the PLANELESS PILOT, Captain Darrell.

KTHXBYE.
